What We Do

A Phased Plan for Wellness, Dignity, and Hope

KISIMA Wellness & Empowerment Center is being developed through a thoughtful, phased approach. Each phase builds on the one before it, allowing the center to grow carefully, sustainably, and in response to the real needs of mothers, children, caregivers, and families in Lanet, Nakuru County. The long-term vision is to transform a former school property into a trusted community hub for clean water, maternal and child wellness, caregiver support, health education, skills development, and compassionate care.

Phase 1

Laying the Foundation

Community Water Access & Basic Maternal and Child Wellness Support

Phase 1 focuses on the most immediate and visible needs: clean water, site safety, and basic maternal and child wellness support.

This first phase will establish the foundation for KISIMA through a community borehole, site preparation, and Community Water Days, where surrounding families can access clean water while also connecting with health education, caregiver support, and community outreach.

Phase 1 will also create a simple, basic maternal and child wellness space — not a full clinic at first, but a modest starting point where mothers, caregivers, infants, and children can receive compassionate support, education, basic wellness checks, counseling, and referral guidance.

  • Periodic mission/medical outreach visits as partnerships allow

Phase 1 creates the foundation for KISIMA: clean water, a safe site, basic wellness support, and trusted relationships with mothers, children, and families.

Phase 2

Empowering Young Mothers

Vocational Skills & Family Support

Once the foundational water and basic wellness services are established, KISIMA will expand to support young mothers through practical skills training, family support, and income-generating opportunities.

This phase recognizes that health, dignity, and economic opportunity are deeply connected. Young and vulnerable mothers often need more than healthcare alone — they need encouragement, skills, childcare support, mentorship, and pathways toward stability.

Phase 2 helps young mothers build confidence, practical skills, income opportunities, and stronger family stability.

Phase 3

Expanding Community Health

A Stronger Maternal & Child Wellness Clinic and Preventive Health Services

Phase 3 will build on the basic wellness support started in Phase 1 by developing a more structured and better-equipped maternal and child wellness clinic.

At this stage, KISIMA's goal is to expand from basic support and referrals into more consistent preventive and community health services. This may include immunization support, simple diagnostics, nutrition services, child wellness monitoring, maternal health education, and stronger referral coordination with local health facilities.

This phase allows KISIMA to become a more reliable community health hub while still remaining focused on prevention, education, early support, and family-centered care.

Phase 3 expands KISIMA from a basic wellness space into a stronger maternal and child wellness clinic focused on prevention, early support, and healthier families.

Phase 4

Learning, Service & Partnership

Kenya–US Learning, Volunteer Exchange & Mission Partnerships

Phase 4 will formalize KISIMA's learning, service, and partnership model. While mission and medical outreach visits may begin earlier, this phase will create a more structured rhythm for one to two mission or service trips each year, depending on community needs, funding, and partner availability.

These trips may bring together health professionals, students, churches, volunteers, educators, and community partners to support KISIMA's work while learning from and serving alongside the local community.

Phase 4 creates a bridge of service, learning, and partnership between Kenya and the United States, strengthening KISIMA's long-term impact.

KISIMA's phases are designed to grow gradually. Some activities, such as mission visits, volunteer support, and partner-led outreach may begin earlier as opportunities and resources become available, even as the broader program structure develops over time.

Together, we are building more than a center. We are helping create a place where mothers, children, caregivers, and families in Lanet can find support, healing, practical resources, and hope for generations to come.
